ArcTern Ventures
ArcTern Ventures Fund II is a fund that invests in innovative start-up and growth companies with significant potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and solve sustainability challenges.
Investing in a more sustainable future
ArcTern Ventures is one of the world’s largest venture funds focused on climate technologies. It was established in 2012 and is headquartered in Toronto, Canada.
The Fund invests in technologies with high international potential, especially in renewable energy, circular economy, resource efficiency, sustainable consumption and technology, both in North America and Europe.
In 2020, ArcTern Ventures established its European headquarters in Oslo. The fund has a total fund size of 200 million Canadian dollars (approximately 1.4 billion NOK).
World leading climate investor
The transition to a greener economy can enable a shift within all industries and contribute to significant return of investment and a positive environmental impact. By combining a clear technology focus with a hands-on approach, significant capital and a world-leading team in climate investments, ArcTern Ventures helps early-stage companies with innovative climate technologies find competent venture capital.
The venture fund is looking for companies that challenge existing solutions in most industries with sustainable focused technology – whether it’s renewable energy, energy storage, mobility, advanced materials, resource efficiency, food and agriculture technology, offshore wind or new materials technology. The prerequisite is that the technology has significant growth potential and contributes to reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
A capital bridge to the rest of the world
ArcTern’s presence in Norway is important both for Norwegian companies with climate technologies looking to scale internationally, and to strengthen the Norwegian ecosystem and increase the competence and capital access for climate investments.
As the EU is stepping up its ambitions for energy and climate policies and focuses more on sustainability, there will also be an increased need for capital to scale up solutions. Our main export market will demand greener solutions.
It is essential to build capital bridges that act as shortcuts to larger markets. If we are to become a world leader in climate technologies, we need to team up with world-leading investors like ArcTern Ventures.
