Nysnø, Ferd and Laerdal invest in sustainability fund

ArcTern Ventures is a North American-European climate investor with over 10 years of experience. Nysnø is now joining forces with Ferd and Laerdal Invest to invest more than 300 MNOK in ArcTern's third fund establishment for climate and sustainability. Nysnø invested in ArcTern's Fund II in 2019 and contributed to the investment company's establishment in Europe with headquarters in Oslo.

The fund will invest in technology companies that contribute to reduced greenhouse gas emissions and look for good investment objects that develop solutions in renewable energy, mobility, circular economy, sustainable food and agriculture and industrial decarbonisation.

“ArcTern has shown a strong development of its portfolio in Fund II, and they exemplify that our strategy to strengthen the Norwegian climate investment ecosystem through fund investments is successful. We look forward to further cooperation with ArcTern and new co-investors Ferd and Laerdal Invest. This cooperation helps to build capital bridges between Norway and international investors and gives Norwegian growth companies better access to competent capital,” says Lars Hvam, Investment Director in Nysnø.

Since its establishment in Norway in 2020, ArcTern Ventures has had an active role in the Norwegian start-up community. Now they are scaling up their presence in Europe with new employments from their base in Oslo. Here, the fund is co-located with Nysnø and other climate investors.

This constitutes an ecosystem for climate investments and the ArcTern team in Oslo has a natural proximity to the growth environment in climate technology in Norway and the Nordic region. The fund will thus be positioned to help Nordic climate technology companies with international growth.

“We have spoken to hundreds of Norwegian start-up companies since we first established here and have helped with many introductions through our international investor network. The last couple of years we have seen a significant maturation of the Norwegian climate technology scene, and we have an active dialogue with several exciting companies,” says Kristin Aamodt, partner at the Oslo office of ArcTern Ventures.
