The construction industry accounts for 15 percent of greenhouse gas emissions in Norway. Additionally, construction waste represents 40% of all waste in Europe (source: EU Science Hub). The goal is for Vixel, through its Vrex service, to reduce both greenhouse gas emissions and help the industry save significant, untapped financial costs related to materials.
“Vrex is a virtual collaboration solution that enables the construction, engineering, and manufacturing industries to hold digital virtual construction meetings inside 3D project models. This results in fewer business trips, more efficient project execution, and less waste,” says Rune Vandli, CEO of Vixel.
Vrex stands out from competing solutions by offering a collaborative platform that supports virtual reality (VR) for technical building plans. This makes it possible to detect and correct errors early in the process, allowing architects, engineers, and end-users to identify improvements before project construction begins, thereby reducing both material use and environmental footprint.
“We are ready to scale up our team to continue growing and are looking for experienced business developers to join the Vixel team,” Vandli continues.
Impressive growth rate and potential
“We have followed Vixel since the beginning of 2023 and have seen an impressive growth rate from the company. We strongly believe that our investment in Vixel will contribute to more sustainable practices in the industry,” says Solveig Espedal Sundsdal, Senior Associate at Nysnø Climate Investments.
Sundsdal also highlights significant potential beyond just travel time and materials:
“If the construction industry adopts this visualization tool, it will also be possible to improve space utilization, potentially reducing the size and footprint of projects. Additionally, the threshold for using sustainable solutions, such as prefabricated alternatives, could be lowered. This could result in substantial reductions in the environmental impact of construction activities,” Sundsdal adds.
“It is clear that the team has developed a product that customers are satisfied with, delivering strong growth with limited resources. They already have a very solid client list with large companies and a good strategy for further growth,” she concludes.
In addition to Nysnø Climate Investments, Skagerak Capital and Construct Venture are also participating in this financing round.
